چکیده
Spinal disorders cover a broad spectrum of pathologies and are among the most prevalent medical conditions. The management these health issues was noted to be increasingly based on surgical interventions. fixation devices often employed improve surgery outcomes, increasing spinal stability, restoring structural integrity, ensuring functionality. However, currently used tools fabricated from materials with very different mechanical properties native bone that prone pull-out effects or fail over time, requiring revision procedures. Solutions problems presently exploited in practice include optimal selection screw shape size, modification insertion trajectory, utilization cement reinforce constructs. Nevertheless, none methods without risks limitations. An alternative option biomechanical resistance effect is tackle regenerative capacity focus osteointegration properties. Osteointegration reportedly enhanced through various optimization strategies, including use novel materials, surface techniques (e.g., application coatings topological optimization), composites allow synergistic between constituents. In this context, paper takes comprehensive path, starting brief presentation devices, moving further observations how strength can existing methods, focusing for implant improvement.

Restoration of pull-out strength of the failed pedicle screw: biomechanical comparison of calcium sulfate vs polymethylmethacrylate augmentation.
OBJECTIVE The aim of the present study was to compare calcium sulfate (CAS) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cements used for the augmentation of a failed pedicle screw with biomechanical pull-out strength (POS) testing. METHODS Thirty lumbar vertebrae were harvested from 6 calves and bone mineral densities (BMD) were measured. Primary polyaxial pedicle screws were randomly inserted and...
متن کاملThe effect of lateral wall perforation on screw pull-out strength: a cadaveric study
BACKGROUND Lateral pedicle wall perforations occur frequently during pedicle screw insertion. Although it is known that such an occurrence decreases the screw pull-out strength, the effect has not been quantified biomechanically. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty fresh cadaveric lumbar vertebrae were harvested, and the bone mineral density (BMD) of each was evaluated with dual-energy radiography a...
متن کاملTriangulated pedicle screw construct technique and pull-out strength of conical and cylindrical screws.
To compare the mechanical effectiveness of a new conical screw design with a conventional cylindrical screw design, the screw insertion time, torque, and pull-out strength of single-pedicle screw and triangulated-pedicle screw constructs of each type of screw were compared in human cadaveric vertebral bodies. The time required to insert the conical screws was less than that required for cylindr...
متن کاملTrabecular deformations during screw pull-out: a micro-CT study of lapine bone
The mechanical fixation of endosseous implants, such as screws, in trabecular bone is challenging because of the complex porous microstructure. Development of new screw designs to improve fracture fixation, especially in high-porosity osteoporotic bone, requires a profound understanding of how the structural system implant/trabeculae interacts when it is subjected to mechanical load. In this st...
